WEEK OF JANUARY 21-24

 CLASSROOM LEARNING UPDATE

Reading: We continue our journey focusing on stories about Exploration this week 

in "My Perspectives"

Writing: We are choosing our topic and starting our Informational Writing with new teaching points. This week we will be writing about Mr. Luther King Jr. and having discussions about his legacy AND the world we are living in now. There will be vocabulary that accompanies this study, as well.

Math: Room 20 is learning about Statistics (Measures of Center, Variation, etc.)

History: We are wrapping up our unit of study on the Ancient Egyptians and their inventions.

Geography: We are learning all 50 states along with their capitals.

WEEK OF JANUARY 14-17

Welcome back to school in 2025!

Here is a quick update about much of the exciting learning happening in Room 20:


This week our class will continue learning about the Ancient Egyptians in History. If you have any unique things you learned, youtube clips, or fascinating articles, please do share.

In Geography we are learning the 50 United States and Capitals (Review for most). Each student will also chose 1 state to do a brief project.

In writing, we are starting our Informational Writing by gathering ideas and choosing a topic this week.

In math we will start Tuesday learning about Statistics in Chapter 9

We are starting a new unit in ELA about Exploration from "My Perspectives". Our essential question that we will explore is: What drives people to explore? All of the stories will focus on this theme.

Finally, I am reading aloud to the class about Martin Luther King Jr.’s abundant life in celebration of his holiday. We are also looking up quotes and watching two of his significant speeches followed by journaling and deep discussions.
