First Week of School!

MONDAY:

First Day of School Classwork

Students and parents go to the top right of my blog, click “student/parent letter”, which is under “Important Links” section. Next, take time to read the letter. Write down any questions you may have for tomorrow’s Google meet.

  • Finish your “First Test” Interview questions about yourself. When finished, click submit, or turn-in

  • Have your parent go to the iGrade e-mail link document in the “Important Links” section again. They can type in their e-mail so I can send them an access e-mail to your grades through iGradeplus.com. You will also have access through your district e-mail!

  • Watch the District Slide Show in Google Classroom on “My Media Use” then fill out google classroom activity.

  • Pictures tomorrow so dress nice. I will take screen shots of each of you and make a cool class pic of all 33 of us!

  • Begin working on your Name Flag Acrostic rough draft

  • Get outside and play!

  • Class Google meet at 9:00 am tomorrow

Tuesday Classwork:

  • Begin creating your own 4 truths and 1 lie  in Google Classroom. Get creative and tricky!

  • Do Google Classroom district activity (Youtube, “Teen Voices” then fill out other document on “Red Flags”) Due tomorrow)

  • Continue working on your rough draft of your Acrostic Name Activity

  • Please type a few ideas for Classroom Rules on Google Classroom Feed. Comment below my 5 rules.

Wednesday Classwork:

  • Fillout Google classroom activity: What Do You Want 6th Grade to be/not be like?!

  • Login to flipgrid with your district gmail account. Next, record your first video and upload it to the “Summer Fun” Assignment. It is due Friday.

  • Chat with your district email account with one other student, Share your 4 Truth and 1 Lie and see if you can figure out each other’s lie. Chat with Mr. Sweet and ask him one question. This is the preferred way of communicating vs. google classroom.

  • Continue Name flags

  • Do journal prompts. See google classroom stream at top.

THURSDAY CLASSWORK

August 14th, 2020

Dear Parents,

I look forward to meeting each of your children online this coming Monday, August 17th,

at 9:00 a.m. for our first Google Meet together. I’m excited to begin this adventurous

new journey together in learning. We will meet every day at 9:00 a.m. so your child

can voice their opinions, concerns, and questions. 6th grade has the best curriculum

schoolwide so you are in for a treat! I will be your guide as we explore the incredibly

unique and fascinating learning 6th grade has to offer.

Your child’s login information is their student ID followed by their birthdate. Like last year,

they simply enter our google classroom and click on the “Meet Link” at the top left.

In case they are unable to find this, here is the link for our meetings all year unless we

utilize Zoom:

It is going to be a great year of opportunities and challenges, so our collective

patience will be the key to success. We will become true learning warriors, able

to take on any new challenge that presents itself. Are you ready?!

For the love of learning and growth,

Mr. Sweet

P.S. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail. Let me know if you did NOT receive an e-mail from me on Friday, August 14th. E-mail me at martin_sweet@pvusd.net and I will add you to my class list.
