HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

 

DECEMBER 13-17th

 Dear Parents and Students,

Our last week of 2021 together is packed with learning and fun! In reading we are finishing up Tuck Everlasting together Wednesday and finishing our books to take AR quizzes. In Math we are beginning our study of Equations and Inequalities. In Writing we are finishing our Poetry Unit and preparing for our recital on Thursday morning at 8:00 am. I will be streaming a Google Meet from our google classroom for parents that would like to see their child's poetry recital.

In addition, we are learning about the history of winter holidays. On Friday we will have a little party and watch a holiday movie along with a White Elephant Gift exchange. As a reminder, you can either add a barely used toy/game, or get something less than $15 for the fun exchange.

CLASS UPDATE

Dear Parents and Students,

Halloween was a blast on Friday and we were so fortunate to have Nicole Myhrstad and the parent crew help our 6th graders celebrate. This coming Friday marks the last day of the 1st trimester and students can make up any unfinished work and correct and return half-backs in blue ink. I look forward to meeting with you at the conferences on November 15-18th. Please sign up for a time if you haven't done so here:

This week we will continue our unit on Animal Allies in English Language Arts. In addition, we are finishing up our Bloom Ball Book Project, which is due Friday, November 5th.

In writing we will begin our new genre of informational writing and gather ideas. On Friday, November 5th, we will be going to Mr. Kyle's to read their narratives for Celebration Day.

In Math we will start the next Unit of Study on Ratios and Rates in Chapter 5

In Science we will continue with learning about Metabolism and diagnosing Elisa's condition while learning specifically about cells and Diabetes and Asthma. 

Friday will be the last day of the 1st trimester and the grade book closes.

Welcome to our first full week of school! We will continue to learn more about each other along with class procedures. Room 20 jumped into our new math unit about Numerical Expressions and Factors. Our 6th graders are beginning to gather ideas for our Narrative Writing. In Social Studies we started creating our Africa Map. Our first unit of study in ELA will be Childhood Stories which deal with our theme of: What are the challenges and triumphs of childhood?
