WEEK OF 10/13-10/16

Room 20 Class Update

Congratulations, Room 20! 🏆

Our class won the GOAT Trophy this week for our outstanding participation in selling Drive for Schools tickets! A huge thank-you to all the families who contributed, especially the Mumford family, who did the lion's share of the work!

Science Camp (October 26–30)

Today, students submitted index cards listing their top five choices of classmates they would like to room with during Science Camp. The excitement is building as we get closer to this awesome adventure!

Field Trip Updates

Thank you to all the parents who have returned their permission slips and submitted payment for our upcoming field trip to the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. We are only waiting on two students—amazing!

We also have an overwhelming number of parents who have volunteered to drive. Thank you! Unfortunately, we won't be able to accommodate everyone on this trip. However, we have another field trip coming up to The Tech Interactive, and I'll prioritize driving opportunities for parents who aren't selected for the Egyptian Museum trip.

What's Happening in the Classroom?

ELA – My Perspectives

We are wrapping up our unit on Challenges and Triumphs of Childhood. Students have been exploring the experiences, obstacles, and successes that shape our lives as we grow.

Writing – Narrative Writing

Today, students used a Narrative Writing Checklist to evaluate their final drafts. We also created Google Docs and used SchoolAI to receive feedback and suggestions for strengthening our writing.

Students are putting the finishing touches on their narratives through revising and editing. We'll wrap up the unit with a Writing Celebration this Friday alongside Ms. Allen's class!

Math – Algebraic Expressions

We are reviewing Chapter 3, Algebraic Expressions, in preparation for our chapter test on Wednesday. On Thursday, we'll jump into Chapter 5, focusing on Rates and Ratios.

Science – Extreme Weather

We are finishing up our Science World activities and launching an exciting new unit on Ocean, Atmosphere and Climate/El Nino. Perfect timing with all the talk about a possible Super El Niño this year!

Geography – Asia

This week, students will finish labeling their maps of Asia and continue learning the countries and their locations. There's a lot of geography to master, and we're making great progress!

Thank you, Room 20 families, for your continued support and involvement. We have a lot of exciting learning and adventures ahead!
