WEEK OF MARCH 11-15

Dear Parents and Students of Room 20,

Class Update:

In reading we are focusing on stories that ponder this question: "How is modern technology harmful and helpful to society." Out of these articles are deep and thoughtful journal writes along with meaningful partner and class discussions.

In Writing our class has launched our unit of study of Argumentative Writing. The class is brain storming potential topics this week. They definitely love to argue!

In Math we are focusing on Data Displays, stem and leaf, histograms, and shapes of distributions. On Wednesday we will have a quiz on Stem and Leaf and Histograms.

In addition, this Thursday, 3/14, is Pi Day. We will learn about the origins and meaning of "Pi". On Wednesday students will make some circular treat, if possible, to share together. We will find the circumference and area of each item and eat them together!

In History we are learning about the Ancient Israelites and the holiday Ramadan, which started Sunday, March 10th. Finally, this Friday we will celebrate and learn about St. Patrick's Day, its history, and how it's evolved to the modern celebration.
