Class Update!
5th Grade-
Last week our class has kicked off our study of "Nature's Fury" by
reading a story entitled Earthquake Terror. Our ELA wkbk pages connect
to the this story and will be done, both at home, and in class. This week we will read "Eye of the Storm" about Storm Chasing photography.
In writing our class will be finishing our first 5-paragraph essays about our summer
and they look great thus far. The class seems to have a good
understanding of organization, neatness and detail in their writing.
In Math we are reviewing Chapter 1 in HM focusing on Factors, Prime Factorization and Greatest Common Factors.
In American History we have kicked off our Unit of Study on Explorers and Cultures Meeting.
It will be exciting as we study the great explorers throughout our
history that were not covered in 4th Grade.
We will have Spelling and Vocabulary this week. Study Pre-Test for the test on Friday.
Sign and return the NASA field trip forms. If you intend to drive you need to fill out the Insurance Paperwork in the office.
6th Grade
Last week, as you know, our class began reading Hatchet together. Our Spelling and Vocab will come from this book and we will continue comprehension checks along the way. They are definitely into this book! We won't begin RTI until 9/30, from my understanding.
In Math 6th graders will continue working on Integers in CGP while exploring Lines/Angles, Fractions/Percents in Saxon. They are doing very well thus far adapting to the new, and very challenging, CGP. (This math has been affectionately referred to by other 6th grade teachers as standing for "Confusing Good People" ) ;-)
In Writing we are finishing up Name Acrostic Art and our 3 Passions Essay.
Ancient Civilization-We kicked off our Unit of Study on Pre-Historical Man and saw the "7 Wonders of the Ancient World" on Friday.
Sign and return the NASA field trip forms. If you intend to drive you need to fill out the Insurance Paperwork in the office.
You are officially updated.
