Room 12!
* On Monday our class will be learning a little bit about 9/11 and its impact on our country and the world at large.
* In Reading our class will begin The Sign of the Beaver, a classic book about a boy's life without his family in the Northeast in the 1760's.
* This week, we will not have spelling workbook pages. Instead, in class, we will learn the meanings of our vocabulary words and play games to understand and use them. The vocab test will be on Friday using the Smart Responders... so study those words! The meanings will be sent home Tuesday.
* We will not have as much homework because I really want each child to study for the Science Test on Thursday. They should bring home their book every night to study.
* Our class will start doing News Teams. Each student will select an article from a newspaper, or online/magazine article to summarize and share with the class. The summary is not due until next Monday, September 19th. The brief speeches will be next week, as well.
* In HM Math we are continuing to learn equivalent fractions, reducing/simplifying, and converting mixed numbers to improper fractions and visa versa.
* Finally, in writing Room 12 is beginning our "Frustrations Essay" Be prepared to laugh at their funny supporting details, which is our focus.
* Next Monday, September 19th, our class will go on the field trip to the Tech Museum for the Chemistry Lab and IMAX Movie: Tornado Alley
There is a LOT more happening in Room 12, but that should suffice for now!
