May 13-17th

Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for all of the treats and gift cards last week! I truly felt appreciated!

This week is a busy one. Thursday will be the International Games followed by Open House at 6-7pm in the class. It is my hope that all of you can join us for your last Open House at Rio with your 6th grader. Rain is in the forecast as well to make things a little interesting. 

In addition, this Friday will be the big Jog-a-thon so, by all means, get some sponsors! I    have already challenged the class to run more laps that me...Think "tortoise and the hare".

Also, on Friday will be our last Geography test on South and Central America.

Spring has sprung...Family life, softball, junior high coming soon, field trips to Boardwalk, Beach and AHS, International Games. There is a lot happening in room 20.

Finally, a HUGE thank you goes out to Allison Fessenden, our super Room Parent. She volunteered to cover ALL of the Boardwalk passes for our class.

WEEK OF APRIL 29-May 3rd

Dear 6th Grade Families,
We are excited to start planning the 6th Grade Field Trip to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The scheduled date is Monday, June 3rd 10 am- 3:30 pm.
To help us better plan how many day-trip wristbands we will need, we will send home a questionnaire and more information within the next couple of days. Please help us by deciding if you will need a day pass for you and your child or if you are buying a year pass ahead of time.

Last Friday we finished up testing! This week we will wrap up Anne of Green Gables, our Argumentative Essays, and Greek Games/City State project. We start learning about South America and Central in Geography.

This week our class begins the SBAC Testing in English Language Arts. On Monday and Tuesday we will do the ELA portion and Wednesday - Friday we will do the ELA Writing Performance Task (Narrative, Informational, or Argumentative Writing)

AJHS IMPORTANT INFO

1. 6^th grade Parent Night (Thursday, April 18^th 2019 6:00 pm in the AjHS Gym)
2. Completion of the AJHS student recommendation form (due April 18^th 2019) This form will be sent out the week of March 25^th 2019.
3. Completion of the AJHS registration packet (including the Emergency Card, PVUSD Policy forms, notice of immunization, Health History Form, and the AJHS Library Application form) Forms Delivered to sites April 8^th and due by April 30^th or May7^th.
4. 6th grade Visit to AJHS (scheduled for April 30th and May 7^th from 9:00 to 10:15 am) Your respective office teams will need to confirm bussing/field trip info with Transportation 

^6th Grade Parent Night

To kick off the registration season for our parents, we are hosting a Sixth Grade Parent Night for all incoming parents.

It will be held in the AJHS Multipurpose Room (a.k.a. the Gym.)

It will begin promptly at 6:00 pm and end promptly at 8:00 pm

It is scheduled for Thursday, April the 18^th, 2019

 We will be sending a flyer as we get closer to the event date.

3. 7th grade Registration

As part of our registration process we would like to deliver the 2017-18 AJHS registration packet to your respective sites for dissemination and collection. The packets include the following forms:
