5th Grade Update-
We have a wonderful class this year with 30 fifth graders. They are excited, focused and fun to teach! It's certainly going to be a memorable! You may sign up for a Parent Volunteer time here on this google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/134m0MgWvI8ye5ytnu08gSbeXfJWT3R9-udngV2kBXg4/edit
Please let me know if you do not receive an email from me as I entered all of the parent emails into my Comcast acct, but sometimes it glitches. Also, please do not "reply all" unless necessary! After the first couple of emails I will "bcc" the info emails.
ELA- This week our class will kick off our study of "Nature's Fury" by reading a story entitled, Earthquake Terror and focus on "Sequence of Events" as our reading skill. In reading we will be taking our online Star Test to help establish our Accelerated Reader Goals for the first trimester. I will send home the goal sheet this week. A lot is happening this week! We have the two-part Family Life presentation that they have all been talking about! Wednesday will be part 1 of the "talk". We will be discussing conception and HIV. On Thursday the girls and boys will be divided into two groups and discuss puberty. I encourage you to discuss these topics with your child, as well. We have a question and answer time afterward both discussions/videos, which is done anonymously in written notes. Inappropriate questions are omitted.
On Wednesday we will have the States Test on a map. They will need to know the names and location of the states. Geography practice packets will be due on Wednesday.
On Thursday will be the Constitution test in History. (our last test of the year!)
On Thursday students from the AP Environmental Studies class from Aptos High will be sharing their final presentations to the 5th Grade Classes.
I encourage all of you to read stories from your child's Google Classroom account. They are amazing!
Also, initially I was going to be teaching 6th grade, but that has changed and I will be back in 5th next year. Sorry for the mixed message.
The end is nigh!
